Writing is a diluted form of Art now
There is so much content written on the internet right now that I sometimes wonder how to find the good content among it.
There is another problem — there are good writers everywhere.
At least people who write better than me and it makes me wonder whether I am any good or not.
There was a time when everything was limited. Even writers.
There were only a few good writers and that was it.
Others didn’t even try it.
Nowadays everyone is writing and everyone is posting something every day.
The 26 words of English has been written in so many ways that I think the end of infinity looks smaller in front of it.
The bigger problem is that it is infinitely more difficult to stand in front of other writers today in the matters of content because everyone is writing about anything that pops up in your mind.
At times it seems that everything has been already written.
Today, one has to struggle a lot in terms of writing.
Writing is diluted, that is one point, no one respects writing anymore and that is another point.
Ironically, at the time when people are writing so much, there is a dearth of readers in the world.
People don’t like to read anymore and that is why photos and videos are running much ahead in the race than writing.
The only upper hand-writing has is that people still have to search on Google in writing while searching anything on the internet otherwise if the description and metadata were of no use on the internet and there, there wasn’t any use of writing.
In earlier times, people used to carve pictures on stone and that was their handwriting. Today we are going back to where we started.
We have started using pictures as a form of expression now.
The more the people are writing, the more the need for editor and proof-reader is decreasing, the more the value of writing is decreasing.
Imagine this, I, as a writer has published many books on the internet despite being an average writer and you can check that on amazon by typing my name, which is Shitiz Srivastava.
I also write on Medium, Quora and many other places.
Does that establish me as a writer?
No, it doesn’t.
Do I see writing as a career?
Of course not.
No one will pay you to write. There are more writers in the market than there is work for them.
You know what is worst than an unknown writer. It is to see bad writers succeed.
Works of writing have diluted now.
There won’t be Oscar Wilde’s sarcasm anymore, there won’t be Conan Doyle’s deduction anymore, there won’t be Wordsworth’s wisdom anymore and there won’t be Hemingway’s calmness anymore.
There is no one who has harm the writing and literature more than Dan Brown.
Dan Brown, on one hand, has written several books with the same premise but with different facts in them and it opened an entire industry of writers who fix facts on a fiction format, which is already made, and sell it.
Most people can’t read factual books and consider them boring. For them, these factual-fiction books are a blessing. They can read fiction and later claim they learned something from its facts too.
Most books I read are the same content written over and over again.
Well, what do I care!
I will write because I like writing.
